Chelsea in Bloom – 20-26 May 2024
With this year’s Floral Feasts theme, Chelsea in Bloom welcomed joyous floral installations throughout the neighbourhood and saw the highest levels of footfall ever recorded
Chelsea in Bloom – London’s largest free flower festival – is organised by Cadogan in collaboration with the RHS.
From a giant interactive ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ in Sloane Square to Winnie the Pooh picnicking with friends on Royal Avenue, 115 incredible displays enticed visitors to explore the florally adorned stores, hotels and restaurants.
Despite two days of wind and rain, footfall to the neighbourhood during the Chelsea in Bloom week exceeded last year’s (previously the highest ever recorded) with 1.4m visitors, beating Chelsea in Bloom 2023 by 8%.
Over 40% of participating retailers reported a significant increase of visitors in-store, a rise in sales and an increase in brand profile through the PR and social media opportunities that Chelsea in Bloom brings. This year’s press coverage (broadcast, radio, print and online) reached over 67.5m.
Over 100 stores, restaurants and hotels participated with their floral displays. Reviewed by Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and celebrity judges, displays were each awarded gold, silver, bronze, or merit, along with three stand out awards: ‘Best Floral Display’ – won by The Conran Shop for their lush wildflower meadow celebrating al fresco dining and nature; ‘Highly Commended’ – awarded to Birley Bakery for their honeycomb towers and vibrant flowers for pollen-feasting bees; and the ‘Innovation Award’ – won by Butcher’s Tap & Grill for their pirate’s feast. The People’s Champion – voted for by the public – accrued over 30,000 votes, with Trinny London the worthy winner.
This year, charity partners included The Felix Project, for whom we raised funds through sales of a limited-edition t-shirt, and not-for-profit Confetti Club who recycle petals to create confetti with proceeds going to Cancer Research.
