Our new artisan food quarter
Butcher, baker, cheesemonger, greengrocer to be joined by barista and vegan café
Cadogan today announces a brand new food haven on Pavilion Road, in the heart of Chelsea.
The five artisan shops, situated to the rear of the new George House development on Sloane Street, will be joined by further skilled independents. Granger & Co has recently opened a relaxed, all-day restaurant, overlooking a ‘hidden’ courtyard garden inspired by Corso Como in Milan.
The area has welcomed a traditional family butcher, Provenance, fine wine shop, Pavilion Wine, bakery and school Bread Ahead, Natoora, a greengrocer offering a range of fresh seasonal produce and London Cheesemongers, who specialise in sourcing traditional produced cheeses.
During the summer of 2015, Cadogan held a public consultation with local residents to understand what they wanted to see in the neighbourhood. The resounding feedback from over 75% of respondents was that they felt the introduction of independently owned shops selling quality produce would enhance Chelsea’s village feel and benefit the local community.
Hugh Seaborn, CEO of Cadogan commented: “We spent over a year actively seeking the right ‘artisans’ who would become part of the community – small, independently run shops that deliver a richer experience and enhance Chelsea’s village feel. We had clear direction of residents’ desires for shops that serve local people, so we deliberately sought leaders in their field to meet these requirements. These new additions certainly add further vibrancy and character to the area.”
The development comes as part of Cadogan’s stewardship of the area and the estate’s place-making strategy, which looks to maintain and continually enhance Chelsea as one of the world’s best places in which to live, shop, visit and work.
